The Latymer Saturday Music Centre
Since it was founded in 1994, hundreds of children in and around Enfield and North London have benefited from the music education provided at The Latymer Saturday Music Centre. We offer Musicianship Classes for ages 3-8 (Nursery - Year 4) which aim to develop musicianship through a variety of musical games and activities. Instrumental Tuition starts from Year 2, with lessons available from a team of highly qualified specialist teachers on the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Guitar, Harp, Recorder, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Piano, Drum kit. Tuition on other instruments can be arranged where there is sufficient demand.
Music theory lessons are also available.
Choosing an instrument
Advice is given on children’s suitability or readiness to play a particular instrument. For the youngest children, only certain instruments will be recommended.
Examinations
Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall graded examinations can be taken when appropriate. The Centre enters a large number of candidates at regular intervals with excellent results.
Pupil vacancies
There are currently vacancies in some musicianship classes and for some instruments.

Highly recommend for the teaching and support 5 My son attended on Saturdays between the ages of 6-16. He received excellent teaching in violin, recorder, piano and musicianship during his time there, in a very supportive environment. Also, to have the lessons in one place and on one day made his music studies manageable for both him and the family. It was the springboard from which he went on to study at the Junior Royal Academy of Music on Saturdays during 6th form, then on to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for degree and masters. I highly recommend the Centre and am really grateful that we have this excellent facility in Enfield.
